How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
Teeth whitening is a simple process. Whitening products contain one of two tooth bleaches (hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide). These bleaches break stains into smaller pieces, which makes the color less concentrated and your teeth brighter.
Does teeth whitening work immediately?
We can usually complete an in-office treatment in one or two visits and produce results within a matter of hours. Over the counter and in home teeth–whitening kits tend to take at least a month of wearing mouthpieces every night before they start to have an effect.
Is it painful to whiten your teeth?
Your teeth may start to ache during the whitening procedure, and you may feel discomfort when drinking or eating hot or cold products. This potential side effect of teeth whitening is usually short-term, and goes away with time.
